TL;DR Another good week, with progress on long awaited features.

The 0.28.0 will be either very good or truly amazing. This week gus work on combat AI was merged and even now, in this very moment work on new features goes on!

Let’s start with saving, that little nifty feature that allows you to actually quit Morrowind without worrying about loosing your hero. Zini is working on it currently, and I bet this will be ready for the 0.28.0. Please note, that saving and loading was meant to be one of the last things to implement before 1.0.0. So yes, we are getting to this long awaited moment.

Scrawl still works on magic. He implemented bound and summon effects, vampirism, sun damage, absorb, reflect. In fact majority of magic effects is implemented now! He also corrected various aspects of container implementation, implemented recharging of the magical items. Great job scrawl!

Work on our manual also rolls on. Although it is still very “quick and dirty” it slowly grows to cover missing issues. At some point, probably soon after the release of 1.0.0 it will actually become valuable help to all users: both die-hard veterans of construction set and all of those who just want to begin creating content for openmw engine.

We are doing almost good. Scrawl is done with his touch based magic, and now he is looking toward the ranged magic, even though we don’t have ranged weapons like bows and arrows. This is may turn into a good decision, after all. It puts emphasis on some aspects that we would have to consider for ranged combat anyway. And not only this, but He also improved npc animations code, cleaned up npc inventory code and even more! Great job scrawl!

Zini is also doing amazing job on OpenCS, working on all that stuff I have mentioned last week and to addition to this he has made excellent progress in new areas as well.

Almost everything goes good now. But almost is not always enough. We still got the bullet blues here. Bluest blues. https://code.google.com/p/bullet/issues/detail?id=371

This little bastard stops us from solving multiple issues inside OpenMW, and introducing this few missing features. Dear readers: please star this issue! It is important for us!

Welcome!

We have reached to new milestone in OpenMW. You were able to steal Fargoths ring, you were able to kill Fargoth. But now, you are able to also use Scroll of Icarian Flight in OpenMW! This is a spectacular. Just watch the video!

In other words: fortify spell effects are finally working. This was programmed by scrawl. Scrawl is right now looking forward to implement touch ranged magic spells.

We also have other interesting contributions to talk about: zini continues to work on dialogue handling in the editor and graffy is reworking OpenCS settings in order to allow adding new features in the future.

And finally: We are getting close to the new version madness, with few new features, new editor, and plenty of bugfixes.

It seems that we start to properly gain momentum again.

First of lgro fixed the critical bug that used to trigger instant crash with Polish locale of Morrowind. Also, It seems that lgro spotted another crash bug. Good hunting!

Secondly gus finished implementing LOS (line of sight) and now He is free to return to his combat AI task. At the moment it seems that he finished the major bulk of the task and only the few remaining issues remain to be solved.

Scrawl created a new interesting widget for OpenCS: a OGRE3D renderer. It should sound exciting, we finally will be able to have preview inside OpenCS just like vanilla CS has. It will boost the awesome level of OpenCS to the highest highs. There is no chance for it in the next version of OpenMW, but without doubt it will be ready to use in next month.

And as usual, zini with his inhuman, mechanic precision continues to work on the other aspects of the editor. At the moment he is correcting tables already implemented, as well as continues to work on dialogue table.

Graffy is still working on the new content selector that is used in both OpenCS and the launcher.
