The Google Summer of Code is basically Google throwing money at students to contribute to open-source projects during their Summer holidays. Many open-source projects have already been a part of that event in the past, incl. 0 A.D. which is another game engine.
@jvoisin is willing to handle the administrative/organizational part, but we'll need contributors to mentor the students.
Suggestions for topics/projects:
- vanilla water shader (#4661)
- gamepad GUI and QoL (#3740)
- soft shadows (#4852)
- inverse kinematics (#5503)
- extended asset support (Oblivion/Skyrim)
- OpenMW-CS stuff…
General thoughts? Are we ok participating? Additional topics/idas? Anyone volunteering for the job of a mentor? Please, go ahead!
Participating in the Google Summer of Code
Re: Participating in the Google Sumer of Cide
This has been suggested a great number of times before, but the issue has always been whether we have people able to mentor or not. If we do, then this would of course be a great thing to participate in imo.
