Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility
The problem is, if I have to direct people to an engine fork that I've made to add features for my mod, then they're downloading a random exe anyway. This approach doesn't actually increase safety for most end users that are just going to be working down a list of requirements to play my mod. It ha...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility
Regarding native extensions, you'll never have 100% support everywhere Certainly not with that attitude. I don't have anything real to add from the above posts. If the project's goal is to be a replacement for Morrowind's engine, blocking native extensions heavily cripples that goal. User safety an...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility
Nothing should stop that from happening. In plenty of cases, that's desirable behavior. For example, someone might want to incorporate 3D Touch on iOS into the UI, with that dehardcoded. OpenMW very likely won't expose that os-specific feature, but a plugin can. The fallback to the iOS library woul...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility
You can make a cross-platform dynamic library that loads in as a lua module. Keyword being "can". What's stopping someone from depending on a library that isn't supported by all platforms, or even one that is supported but the modder doesn't bother to track down the library on all support...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility
Let's put the security issue aside for a moment and focus on what you seem to be avoiding, Null, and tell me how am I supposed to run an .omwaddon that comes with a dll. OpenMW promoting single-platform mods is essentially failing at its stated goal of being multiplatform and makes second class citi...

Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting
I'm aware that I haven't contributed to the project in a while, but in the spirit of discussion I'd like to make a case specifically against the proliferation of additional competing standards . The fact is that while many people are looking forward to OpenMW 1.0+ for all its benefits, fewer ones ar...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion
And a certain type of people just want to play Morrowind on a Mac, or play multiplayer Morrowind, or take advantage of any other features that vanilla Morrowind can’t provide. I don't see a contradiction to what I said. Presumably you considered running Morrowind under different types of emulation,...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion
Jesus Tapdancing Christ you guys are paranoid AF. A certain type of people require a level of trust and control over their tools. The kind of people that build and use Linux, or open source game engine recreations written from scratch. Without that mindset projects such as these would not exist. Th...
