Journal task is finished for now (It’s very basic but We don’t need anything more than that at the moment), GUS is free to focus on the other frontiers, like dialog GUI task, or meshes orientation bug. Good. Very good! Many have fallen in the battle with GUI tasks, so developer who survived and is somewhat experienced with mygui is even more important as He can do not only tasks on his own but also support other developers.
Developers! Developers! Developers!
lgro continues his work on configuration handling. Task is not that small as It seems but It’s only one left for release and It doesn’t interact with other tasks like water or terrain rendering.
Terrain task is going well and smoothly, and that’s not surprising since Yacoby knows very well what to do. Once again experience proves to be useful.
jHooks is doing fine with water rendering as well. In interior cells it works mostly well, while work on rendering water in exterior cells had only began.
One last thing: lgro (our beloved admin) upgraded wiki and forum recently. Forum members recevied PM but I will quote It for those who are not forum members yet:
forum and wiki upgrade is done. If you encounter any strange bugs or something, please let me know (send me e-mail or pm, or just write a post in “Discuss the site” subforum), and I will try to fix it.
Welcome in the year 2012. Zini already wrote the summary of openmw status after 2011.
Well, 0.12.0 is quite close now. Jhooks1 is probably amazing himself (not me, I’m already confident about him) with his developing skills. To quote zini:
I am away for just a couple of days and suddenly tons of stuff happens.
Improvement is really significant and a large step in the right direction. It seems that some other problems left are related to drivers and libbullet so suffering level (this sounds so cool) depends on the version of driver/lib.
And there is almost nothing we can do with it besides reporting bugs. K1ll reports that actually it WORKS since the bullet bug seems to be a fixed in the last svn revision. And that nasty bug could cause quite massive fps drops.
GUS works on journal. It works but still needs some love, quoting GUS:
Text is not properly aligned to the book and the book is not properly aligned/scaled on the screen.
Christmas! And under Christmas tree…
Cook book “Telvanni secrets” for zini. It’s been told that It contains Telvanni bug mask recipe! Zini’s fridge is full of hunted down bugs so it’s time to do something with them.
VIP card of House of Earthly Delights for jhooks. Jhooks was working hard to make animations working. Besides of that openmw still can’t load plugins so lack of better bodies should be a remainder…
Collection “Lessons of Vivec” and “Corpse Preparation” for GUS. GUS is working on journal but some code should be reusable for books as well.
Fortify English Grammar potion for me. Since I freaking hate it.
jhooks seems to be able to work a little on animations again. Integrating it into main branch is not that small task but still tiny when compared with doing all the code. This makes me thing that It’s just needs time.
And GUS was able to merge journal into main, the problem is that it gives instacrash. So something is wrong and the code maintaining seems to be a frustrating job.
But there is a plenty of time to do that since animations will take a larger amount of time.
That’s it. Wait for next news on openmw and listen Nick Cave albums meanwhile.
Let’s hope that I didn’t screwed something or Zini will eat my heart out. 😉
Nothing new and exciting I’m afraid. This week was weak (oh, I’m so funny!).
At least there is now journal branch. GUS didn’t wanted to publish messy code so all the work he was doing was hidden unitll now. However It does not merge without conflict with main at the moment.
